«Ասել» բառի իմաստը անգլերենում արտահայտվում է «say» և «tell» բառերով։
Նա ասում է, որ ․․․: He says that ….
Նա ինձ ասում է, որ ․․․ He tells me that … Այս օրինակից երևում է, որ «tell» բառն է օգտագործվում, երբ նշվում է այն անձը, ում մի բան է ասվում։
«Tell» բառը ունի նաև «պատմել» իմաստը։ Please tell me about old Yerevan. Պատմի՛ր ինձ հին Երևանի մասին, խնդրում եմ։
